PHIC members are supporting an expanded pest management program targeting foxes and feral cats.
The Vertebrate Pest Management Program has succeeded in reducing the number of predators, allowing turtles to nest successfully and increasing the areas in which they nest.
The program also reduces the pressure on populations of other native animals such as quolls, birds, and lizards.
PHIC members are supporting an expansion of the program to include other community groups and stakeholders and areas of land outside the immediate beach and nesting areas.
This coordinated approach will control pest populations more broadly in the region and reduce reintroduction of foxes from nearby populations.
