It is with mixed emotions that PHIC bids farewell to our Business and Community Manager, Chantel Cullen.

Chantel has been an important link between PHIC and its members, the broader community, Government agencies, departments and the various stakeholders across the Pilbara.

Chantel’s contribution was beyond just PHIC, she’s left an indelible mark on Port Hedland having been part of the community for 12 years. She and her husband Mick have immersed themselves and their sons in the Pilbara lifestyle.

Her journey with PHIC began in an administrative support role but the role expanded to meet her drive, skill, and vision. She has undeniably been the heartbeat of the organisation.

“You don’t get the input, the insight, the robust discourse, if you don’t have someone passionate about creating a safe space for honest and open conversations,” PHIC CEO Kirsty Danby shared.

Chantel’s impact extended beyond industry. She played a transformational role at the Hedland Well Women’s Centre as Chairperson, and brought heart and grit to everything she touched.

Before joining PHIC, she launched a health and wellness business that continues to serve the community today. She has been a strong advocate for small businesses and a champion of collaboration.

Her contribution has been recognised in a variety of rewards. She earned Employee of the Year at the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards in 2022, the title of Hedland Hero in 2023 Community Awards and People’s Choice Award at the Pilbara 4 Purpose Community Awards in 2023 while Chair of Hedland Well Women’s Centre.

While her family’s move back to Perth marks a new chapter, Chantel’s legacy in Port Hedland will endure.

Chantel will soon take up a leadership role with Platform Communications—no doubt shaping that organisation with the same energy and excellence she brought to the Pilbara.
