A $3 million greening and amenity program in the West End of Port Hedland will help improve the overall aesthetics and amenity of the area, with a focus on the central business district.
BHP together with the Town of Port Hedland are partnering with RFF to deliver the work. The initial phase of work will be delivered together with Tambinah a local Port Hedland Indigenous business.
BHP is making seats available to the general public on its Alliance Airlines charter services to Port Hedland.
The dedicated community seats will be available on select Alliance Airlines RPT-charter flights between Perth and Port Hedland on a trial basis over the next six months at a set price of $349 each way.
BHP’s General Manager Non Process Infrastructure, Cristian Magri, said that following the easing of physical distancing requirements on flights, BHP would offer up to 50 seats a week each way between Perth and Port Hedland.
“With intrastate borders now lifted in WA many people are looking to start travelling around the state again to reunite with family and friends,” Mr Magri said.
“We are pleased we can offer these dedicated community seats at a set cost to help make this possible and support our communities reconnecting again.”
Mr Magri said passengers would need to follow BHP’s COVID screening procedures prior to boarding and masks would be required on flights. Seats can be booked via the Alliance Airlines website here.
